H&M set off a wave of harsh feedback on social media this past weekend for posing a black child model in a sweatshirt that read “Coolest Monkey In The Jungle” on their website.
I don’t know if this was intentional however the lack of cultural ignorance is shocking. H&M should have been aware of the negative connotations of this phrase and its association to black people.
Then compounded by the fact that there is a white child displayed in an orange hooded with the words “… Jungle Survival Expert.”
Wow is this their narrative for 2018?
H&M give me a break you got to do better! To me there is no subtlety here, its smacks you right in the face!
