BASK 2017: An Lgbtq+ People of Color Pride Picnic
August 5, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT
Five years strong and back with a force — and this time we’re not going to let the weather get to us!! We’re ready for whatever Mother Nature has in store: there is a rain location at Make Shift Boston in case of inclement weather.
We want to apologize to folx if they came out on June 24, 2017 to BASK when it was originally scheduled. Due to morning rain and possibility for more showers, thunder and lighting (oh my), we decided to cancel the event. We had a ton of electrical equipment and were worried that the ground wouldn’t dry out in time; we didn’t want to endanger any of our performers unncessarily. However, this time we will be prepared no matter what so please come out and bring your beautiful QTPOC selves to the Pride Picnic!
This year, HUES Boston and HBGC Boston will be putting on the 5th annual LGBTQ+ people of color Pride picnic, BASK. There will be a full day of programming with music, poetry, performance art, games, and so much more. We will create a safe(r) space that centers and celebrates LGBTQ+ people of color’s existence, resilience and resistance to white power and colonialism. As well as providing entertainment, we will also provide a wealth of knowledge and resources from our sponsors. Lastly, we ask that folx please bring a dish or two to share so that we can be in community and bond over food and drink.
Check out what we have planned below and make sure to look out for updates!
